THE 3 THINGS THAT MATTER MOST
At the beginning of your journey, there are 3 things that you have to get right. In this session, I will discuss how to define each of these to make you stand out as an artist.
1. YOUR MUSIC
Ask yourself the following questions.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR MUSIC?
WHAT IS YOUR STYLE/GENRE?
It is important to define the music that will make people connect to what you are putting out. After all, there are only 88 keys.
“You are not chasing the hit. You are chasing the artist in you.” – CW
Chase the Artist inside of you. Make sure you are the best you.
“Before it is marketed – Before it is promoted – Before it is a video – It’s a song.” – CW
As you are creating your music, ask yourself:
- Are you making the music yourself?
- Do you need to collaborate with others?
- If you need to collaborate with others, how are you doing it?
When we talk about your music you have to identify what you are great at and what you are not great at.
2. YOUR BRAND
“An artist is a brand. A brand is a promise. What is your promise?” – CW
Know what your brand walls are. Don’t go outside your brand walls.
Understand who you are – your brand DNA. What does it stand for?
TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND WRITE DOWN YOUR BRAND DNA:
When you shut your eyes what is your message?
What will your brand walls include?
Launching your brand will require creating snackable content.
3. YOUR FANS
Get their attention quickly. Make your brand stand out. Embrace the feedback.
Up next, we will look at the CORE FOUR that you need to have around you all the times.
